Suresh Babu, Dil Raju to launch OTT platform?

If industry sources are to be believed, leading producers Suresh Babu and Dil Raju are planning to jointly launch a OTT platform. With his arch-rival and producer Allu Aravind entering digital space with 'Aha', Suresh Babu wouldn't be far behind and would jump into the bandwagon to give his rival a run for his money. "Suresh Babu is planning to launch a digital platform to encourage new talent and content-driven stuff. He has been exploring the idea for the last few years but now with his rival Allu Aravind getting into the digital space, Suresh Productions will launch its own platform in just a few months since everything is ready," says a source, close the studios.

The eldest son of Ramanaidu will be joining hands with his colleague Dil Raju to explore the digital space with a plan to have 20-odd shows including web films, web series with bold and path-breaking plots. "Realising that new-age audience are preferring to watch shows on digital arena, Suresh felt that OTT is the future face of entertainment and it will dominate cinema in the coming years," the source adds.

Amazon and Netflix who own millions of subscribers globally stepped into regional languages in India after the number of viewers reached an all-time high. "As per their survey, the viewers are quite high across Telugu states after which they are keen on producing local content. Telugu audience are keen on regional web shows and other content. English and Hindi happens to be their second priority," says director Chandra Siddarth, who is planning to dish out web content.

Amazon recently acquired the digital rights of several Telugu yesteryear classics and released them online. They are also producing lot of regional content. Netflix who already signed a bunch of web series in Hindi is making their debut in Telugu soon. "A bunch of Telugu concepts are zeroed in already which are in various stages of production. The level of local consumption is extremely high in Telugu states and Tamil Nadu. The large players are keen on producing Telugu content. Hotstar and Zee5 are already in the game and small players like Viu and others too are producing web films," adds Chandra Siddarth.
