Telugu is a difficult language: Pooja Hegde

Update: 2020-01-14 22:37 IST

B-town actress Pooja Hegde, who is making waves in T-town, is learning Telugu language and dubbed for herself in two films. "Telugu is a difficult language because it's not my first language.

I learned how to say a dialogue while performing the scenes and not during dubbing. With my well-etched role in 'Ala..Vaikunthapurramlo, ' I could do justice to my dubbing skills.

In fact, B-town guys think that I am a Hyderabadi girl, I take it as a compliment," she says happily. She feels that dubbing artists can't do justice at times. " A few go for an overkill. No doubt, some good dubbing artists elevate our performance with their dubbing.

After the release of 'Aravinda Sametha,' someone posted a message saying, "How many of you dubbed in this movie? I think it's the biggest appreciation for my dubbing," she adds.

She found it easy to work with Allu Arjun again after 'DJ ' "We have found a comfort level after doing two movies. Our onscreen chemistry shows that we are in perfect sync," she informs.

Did she find it difficult to match dancing steps with Bunny? "I didn't have much dancing in this movie, so no worries. I worked with dancing sensations like Hrithik Roshan, Allu Arjun and Jr NTR and going to do another movie with Hrithik Roshan again.

I think I managed to groove with them with ease," she points out. On her favourite scenes in 'Ala…' she explains, "I actually liked the lead scene to 'Buttabomma' song in the movie along with the boardroom scene which was very funny."

She claims that she enjoys working with Allu Arjun and Prabhas as well. On doing more movies, she adds, "I am comfortable doing four movies at a time. Now I am doing two films in Telugu so I can do two more in Hindi. My goal is to become a big star in India. I don't want to be confined to one language," she says confidently.

Actually, you are a top-rung heroine in Telugu, then why play second fiddle roles in B-town movies? "More than the role, I did 'Housefull 4' because it was slapstick comedy which I didn't attempt before. So, it was a great experience to work in that film," she informs.

She claims to be doing varied roles and panting for more. "The characters I did in 2019 were well-received by Telugu audience. They were all different from each other. I was accepted as Sridevi in 'Gadalakonda Ganesh'.

I was appreciated for my college student role in 'Maharishi.' Now, people are talking about my light-hearted role in 'Ala Vaikunthapuramloo.' I think the audience are happy to see me in different roles and I am enjoying this phase.

I did get few women-centric movies, but nothing is exciting enough." she signs off.
