Vijayashanti turns down 'Virata Parvam'?

Seasoned star Vijayashanti reportedly declined to play the role of a social activist in the upcoming Telugu film 'Virata Parvam 1992' starring Sai Pallavi and Rana in the lead roles.

"Vijayashanti liked the script but turned down the offer since she was busy with election campaigning and also felt that the role doesn't justify her larger-than-life image," says an industry source and adds, "Director Venu Udugula was keen on roping in 'Kartavyam' actress as he etched a powerful role, but now thinking of casting Tabu for the same role," the source adds. Nonetheless, the multi-starrer will showcase the acting prowess of 'Fidaa' actress who will be leading from the front.

The much-hyped movie is being helmed by `Naadi Needi Oke Kadha' director and it is billed to be a period saga. "It is a perfect mix of romance, action with a dash of politics as well," the source points out. The shooting of this film is expected to commence from June.

Actually, Vijayashanti was known as a firebrand actress, who carved a niche for herself with blockbusters like 'Osey Ravullamma.' She was last seen on screen in 'Nayudamma' in 2006.
