Amp your style quotient!

Update: 2019-06-29 23:15 IST

We're already halfway through the year in style and now we are putting the spotlight on shoes, which is one of the trendiest ways to amp your style quotient. Runway shoes and boots are a refreshing change and shoe trends are moving away from ridiculous impractical shoes to those that are comfortable with unique elements that justify high fashion. We see a slight shift away from skinny stilettos and a preference to blockier heels. We also see more of flat footwear options along with platforms and thick rubber soles. The shoe trends this year are a broad range of concepts that come together to either promote awareness, with environmentally friendly construction, creative experimentation, and more. Here are the must-have shoes in this season.

Rain boots

A pair of chic rain boots are a must if you live in a damp climate and as far as this season's shoe trends are concerned, they make perfect sense. For the true brand slave, Balenciaga rain boots are a must.

Calf-hugging

One of the stand-out shoe trends is a new take on shaft boots. This year, shoe designers have chosen to make boot shafts, the part that goes over the calf out of stretchy materials, so they can hug the calves tightly. It leads to a unique silhouette, although not necessarily a comfortable one.

Sock shoes

This is an extreme variation on the calf-hugging boots, these shoes have a shaft made of stretchy fabric, resembling a sock. It's an odd trend that started last season and is still going strong.

In-step V

This odd new shape shoe is subtle, but once we noticed it, we saw it in quite a few different places. It is a type of open V that decorated the top of the shoe and seems to work well particularly for a slip-on.

Brown is the new black

Chances are the majority of your shoe collection is black. Although the goes-with-everything colour is a wardrobe staple, it's time to reconsider the brown shoe as a trans-seasonal must. Style both colours together for an of-the-moment combination, or swap in these styles in shades of rich cognac, toffee, and caramel.

Works of art

Block heels chipped into irregular shapes for a more sculptural look in wood, metal, or even gems, like Jacquemus' highly decorated heels. However, you display them on your feet or as home décor, these shoes-turned-works of art are just the lift you'll need this spring.

Pastel spell

This season, candy colours aren't just for bags, but shoes too. Much like the sorbet hues of the croc bags, we saw during fashion month, these pale yellows, minty greens, and dusty pinks are making a strong case for putting a little extra pep in your step.

Woven

Intricate flats and slip-on loafers are reimagined in wonderful wovens and perforated leathers for springtime. In easy neutrals hues, these everyday shoes go with everything from practical vintage denim to dreamy midi dresses. Whatever the mood, consider these artisanal styles are an easy choice for the months ahead.
