In recent years, some of the most prominent colour trends that have emerged are millennial pink and Gen-Z yellow. A range of fluorescent shades have taken centre stage too in the past, but overall the fashion trend has taken a U-turn by going back to basics and finding sustainable ways to lead fashion trends.

So, it may come as a surprise, fashion's must-have shade taking centre stage is one of the more understated and conservative: beige. A shade typically uninspiring but which can be transformed it into a symbol of classic refinement, Beige is a fashionable colour because of it's an understated and conservative appeal, which translates to being 'timeless' in fashion.

Neutral tones that are really getting people's hearts thumping are from standout collections from a host of designers, including Balmain, Tom Ford, Dior, and Kenzo. The hashtag #beigeaesthetic now boasts more than 40,000 posts on Instagram and in recent years the colour beige has become the epitome of minimalist chic and is finally being embraced by all.

Fashion stylist and designer Preetam Jukalkar agrees with the beige trend and its surge in popularity because it is so versatile. He says, "It is really a standout trend for me because of the vast array of options available and it suits all ages, shapes, sizes and skin tones."

While creamy hues might not be the most exhilarating, they are timeless and offer endless styling opportunities. Playing with textures and silhouettes to pairing pieces with complementing summer-ready whites, beige tones promise to slot into your wardrobe seamlessly but it is important that you invest in the right pieces and trust me, beige really is the new black and the kind of no-brainer shade that goes with absolutely everything, so here are the some of the ways to effortlessly wear beige.

For women: During daytime wear beige tones with a crisp white T-shirt and swap for a satin camisole and nip in your waist with a contrasting belt for the evenings. Beige doesn't have to mean boring, so don't forget to contrast fabric textures and experiment with different patterns.

You don't have to wear this tonal trend plain but mix and match your shades or even incorporate snake print to add another dimension. Gold accessories are also a great stylish addition to any neutral tonal look.

If an all-beige outfit doesn't suit your style, you can also use the shade to temper the drama of colourful brights. For example, offsetting a bright green jumper with a camel coat and satin skirt in a coordinating hue will instantly make both shades feel more wearable.

Whether you wear a trench, layered over your casual jeans and tee for an elevated day look, belt it in the evening to create a coat dress with a strappy heel or pair it with several other nude coloured items for a striking tonal look.

For men: For a casually elegant look, pair a dark brown check blazer with beige chinos. Get a little creative when it comes to footwear and lift up your look with brown leather tassel loafers. This look is also ideal for summers makes a tedious day at the workplace more tolerable.

Just pair a black blazer with beige chinos and you'll look incredibly stylish. This ensemble is also nice to get through a tedious day at the workplace.

Opt for a beige waistcoat and navy-blue chinos for a sharp classy look. Beige suede low top sneakers will deliver more playfulness to your getup. This outfit is also great if you're on the lookout for comfy wear.
