Colonial Charm in heart of the city: Verandah of 'Bar Project'

The Country Club in the heart of Begumpet has the old-world charm of English architecture with tall columns, long verandahs, and pristine white walls, and wide atrium and high roof – all adding to colonial grandeur. In recent times, the club has opened its doors to standalone food outlets adding buzz to its precincts.

The new addition to the club is 'Bar Project' that enjoys the vantage poolside space. With large windows, a verandah-styled bar space with a pool view, the rustic tables and chairs, and sloped wooden patio roof adding to the ambience dominated by shades of turquoise, plants and creepers along the edges bringing in the greenery, the new watering hole have this instantly calming effect. An ideal place for a quick after-work drink or an elaborate weekend get-together with friends, Bar Project also has this closed restaurant space with minimal interiors for sunny afternoons.

Classic cocktails share space with a few innovations on the bar menu – the likes of Coconut Martini and the massive Beer Martini break the monotony. On the food menu, there is a good choice of starters like the Chapli kebab, Chatpata fish wrapped in Banana Leaf, Mushroom and Cheese Cigars, Zafrani Jhinga and Pea-stuffed Samosa that come in a steel dabba and are simply addictive. The mains are plated for ease to eat with your drink like the Mutton roast with Malabar Parota and Indian styled Chinese Fried Rice and Noodles, Kheema rice rolled in an omelette etc.

In short, here is a simple place, with no loud music except on Saturdays when the live musician chooses his numbers to engage the guests, there is a good choice of food, but not so much that you end up turning pages of the menu unable to decide and the drinks are hearty and affordable. It is indeed a chilled-out watering hole for your noisy bunch or a quick evening date over a drink, that has every chance of getting extended into the night on a good day – when cool breeze, the romantic poolside view and the dated interiors add to the charm.
