Katy Perry 'Roars' in Mumbai and sets 'Fireworks' on
The maiden multi-genre musical celebration 'OnePlus Music Festival' on November 16 at DY Patil Stadium witnessed over 25,000 fans from all over India.
"I came all the way from Bengaluru to for this event. The fest has an amazing line-up and I am really glad that we could make it to the event," an ecstatic Raj Praveen, said.
Amanda B, who hails from NorthEast and studies in New Delhi, says, "I am a huge fan of Katy Perry. I am so excited to be here and see her performing."
From headliner Katy Perry and Dua Lipa to prominent Indian artists including Amit Trivedi, Ritviz, The Local Train and Aswekeepsearching it was a night of stellar music that brought together artistes from a diverse range of genres.
As we entered the stadium to the fan pit which was bang opposite the stage Bollywood musical maestro was performing with his troupe. The ambience in the stadium without a doubt was electric and people were swaying to the swanky beats of Trivedi.
Trivedi and his group belted out hit tracks like 'Udta Punjab', 'Emosional Attyachar' amongst others.
Next up was BlackLight, an American rapper from Austin, Texas. This was the debut of BlackLight and his set included tracks like 'Beast', 'Back to the Grind' and 'Skyline'.
After BlackLight's performance, it was British pop diva Dua Lupa in the line-up and the stadium welcomed her with a huge cheer as she stepped on the stage. Dua started her performance with her band playing the intro of her 2016's hit 'Blow Your Mind'. Her sheer energy was palpable as she made the audience jump and clap with her electric performance.
The other tracks by Dua were 'Dance', 'No Lie', 'Be the One', 'Don't Start Now', 'One Kiss', 'Electricity', 'Hotter Than Hell', 'Scared To Be Lonely' and 'Begging'.
There was not a single dull moment in her performance as the songstress was jumping; bouncing and she owned the stage.
It was the young sensation Ritviz, who performed after Dua's eclectic performance. The 'Udd Gaye' fame musician opened his set from his new album 'Ved'. The visuals during his had groovy artworks, which were truly immersive with his beats.
Delhi hip-hop duo Seedhe Maut joined Ritviz on the stage and performed their track 'Chalo Chalein'. It was surely a sweet surprise of the audience to see this trio on the stage.
Next up was the main act of the evening – Katy Perry. The stadium was in a frenzy when she stepped on the stage. The already electric stadium was more amplified by her presence.
Katy said that it has been seven years since she was last time in India. She congratulated the audience to be part of the first-ever OnePlus Music Festival. Her charming performance began with 'Bon Appétit' followed by Janet Jackson's funky single from the 80s 'What Have You Done For Me'. The funky train was on as she belted out 1995 song 'This Is How We Do It'. The other songs she performed were 'Hot N Cold', 'Last Friday Night', 'California Gurls', 'I Kissed A Girl', 'Wide Awake, 'Fly Away'. She also performed 'The One That Got Away' while playing an acoustic guitar.
Katy played 'Harleys In Hawaii', which she performed live for the first time ever since its release.
'Swish Swish', which she sang with collaboration with Nicki Minaj was next up followed up by peppy 'Never Really Over'.
The final two songs of Katy Perry were 'Roar' and 'Firework'. The audience was awestruck and were grooving with this hit numbers, which they were waiting to listen as soon as they entered the arena. The pyrotechnics during the last song was scintillating and left audience asking for more.
