Mizoram's hot spot: Reiek Tlang hill

Tucked away in the lap of nature, the Reiek Tlang in Aizawl is gradually growing to become one of the most sought-after destinations for adventure enthusiasts. Located some 29 km from Aizawl, Reiek Tlang hill a beautiful spot situated at an elevation of 1465 metres. Overlooking Aizawl, the hill offers a panoramic view of the surreal surroundings. "I visited this place five years back and again I am here at this beautiful place. I must say this place has got a stunning view. I would say Reiek hill is a wonder of Mizoram," said Johnson Mechek, a tourist.

Standing on the top of Reiek hill, one can get a glimpse of the scenic landscape, mystic mountains, small valleys, and hills of Mizoram. To woo more tourists, the tourism department has set up a heritage village in Reiek. Tourists visiting the village can get a sneak peek of the culture and the lifestyle of Mizoram's villagers. The village consists of mizo-styled traditional huts of different sub-tribes of Mizoram, mizo chieftain's house and a bachelor's dormitory. Besides this, visitors can also relish mizo food in a cafeteria, which is maintained by the state tourism department. The Reiek tourist resort inside the heritage village also provides accommodation to those who visit that place for a longer duration.

One of the fascinating sites on the way to Reiek hill is the cave that often lures the visitors. Tourists are seen basking in the sunshine and enjoying the scintillating beauty of nature. Breathtakingly beautiful views, pure pristine air from the peak add to the charm of the hill. Such tourist spots can be regarded as an asset and more development and facilities can surely bring Mizoram on India's tourism map.
