It is the most revered time in the calendar here and revelry is renting the air. The festival of Lord Ganesha is celebrated with a lot of devotion and music is a prominent feature in the festivities. Youth are inclined towards music and devotional songs which have fast beats and tempo.

Keeping up with the current trend music artistes have started composing songs on Ganesha as new age bhajans. Rappers like Roll Rida, MC Mike and Rahul Sipligunj are creating songs for the festival and youth are lapping up these tunes.

On asking Rahul Kumar Velpula aka Roll Rida about the whole idea of composing and launching the song 'Shankar Ka Beta' which received more than six million views on YouTube, he was quite excited to share his experience with the song…

About idea of the song 'Shankar Ka Beta, he said: "Whenever I am writing a song on a festival, I want it to represent the whole scene of the festival. I wanted to be local and talk about everything the young crowd does during the festival. I thought about what happens in those 10 days and talk about all those special moments in the song. The whole motive of a gully that has Ganesh placed is that they should have the huge idol, and there are the certain specific thing and so I have concentrated on these things in the song."

"When I write a song, it takes around a day, however, for this song I worked for almost a week. Because I had to cut down on words, I had to revise the lyrics and also took feedback from people and looked at how they can connect with the song, which was very challenging," he added.

Another rapper from Hyderabad MC Mike who created 'Jai Bolo Ganpati' said: "In this song, I collaborated with Krishna Chaithanya as he could add a pinch of melody into the song and give it a commercial element. We also added a few dance moves which brought the celebration feeling into the song. When I talk about the rap, I kept it simple; I spoke about community that comes together to celebrate. I also mentioned a Muslim person who celebrates Ganesh Chaviti every year. It inspired me and so I added that element in the song."

MC Mike informed that although his team wanted to come up with a song this year; they could not find producers.

Just like MC Mike, rapper Syed Acram also could not put his song on YouTube due to lack of producers and he said that making a good music video these days on YouTube also needs pretty good investment.

"I have written a song a year ago, but due to budget constraints, I had to think about its launch. As the video of the song requires a lot of money it was difficult for me to direct the whole song and launch it," Acram shared.

"I don't differentiate between religions. My dad is Muslim, and my mother is a Hindu and so I have got a chance to witness the Ganpati festival at my grandmother's place and so by observing those scenes I have written this song," he said.

With the Ganesh festival coming to an end next week, these songs could make your festival even more spiritual and energetic to dance to the tunes.
