Update: 2020-05-15 00:26 IST

While we all are locked-up in our own houses, most of us are running out of their skincare products. Due to the lockdown imposed, deliveries are also slow. Therefore restocking is not an option! In that case, we have to look for skincare solutions that are available at our home. And ayurveda can provide better clarity on this. It's very usual to see green moong dal being cooked for dinner or lunch, every day in most of the Indian households. Moong dal is a staple food for Indians because it's light, easy to digest and nourishing.

But do you know, it endows beauty benefits too? Moong dal is a wonderful lentil that is extremely high in antioxidants and has twelve phenolic acids that help in improving our complexion. Also, it contains a variety of flavonoids that fights skin's oxidative stress and helps to neutralise the free radicals at the cellular level. Ayurveda points out that moong pacifies all the three doshas. Moong dal powder is traditionally used to cleanse our face, body, and even hair. Rich in vitamins A and C, green moong dal helps to provide a healthy glow to the skin. Some wonderful recipes that you should try at your homes to make your skin feel better!

Exfoliation with moong powder

For this, you require 3 tablespoons of moong dal powder, 2 teaspoons of neem powder, 3 teaspoons of sandalwood powder, a pinch of turmeric and enough oil, rose water, or milk to make a paste.
