On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Telangana State Commission for Women organised a closeted conversation with the theme 'Men for Women' on Wednesday.

For the conversation, the commission invited eminent male personalities who in their personal or professional capacity have made concerned efforts towards the empowerment of women in the society and also supported the cause of women at various ways for a leading to breaking gender stereotypes.

The chief guest of the meet was Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, chairperson, Telangana State Commission for Women and B Sumathi, DIG of Telangana State Women Safety Wing.

The meet also had the presence of other members of Telangana State Commission for Women. The male personalities who got felicitated included K Venkata Reddy, DSP, State She team and Women safety wing, S Raj Kumar, chairperson and founder, Ganesh Utsav Committee, Khairthabad, N Jayakar, Retd. IRS, Additional Commissioner Income tax, P Ramesh Shekar Reddy, Mahita NGO and D Ramulu, husband of Aashamma, model couple, Retd. Railway employee.

B Sumathi, is one of the role models has been working in different sections and corners to reduce the crimes faced by women. She along with her team have also started safety clustors in colleges to stop violence in their levels.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy says, "Nowadays the notion is depended on the youth. They can change the situation and play a vital role in building the notion. They need to try to safeguard women at anytime when needed and possible. They should follow the 3s which are 'Save, Strength and Support'."

N Jayakar is a retired IRS (Additional Commissioner of Income tax). He founded a trust by the name Sahaaya- A helping hand in 2009. The aim was to support poor children in the areas of education and empowerment. He has been providing services in the service home maintained by women's development and child welfare since 2006.

Rajkumar Singari is the chairman and founder of the Ganesh Utsav Committee, Khairtabad. Its an NGO involved in Social service work, community development, women empowering and humanitarian causes. Ramesh Sekhar Reddy is currently working as Programme Director of Mahita. Since the inception of the organization, he has helped empower girl children as well as supporting the Women empowerment programs in urban slums of Hyderabad, Rural villages of Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda and Tribal villages of Adilabad district.

The awardee, K Venkat Reddy, was recruited as Sub-inspector of Police in 1996 in Warangal. On promotion in 2010, he as Inspector of Police worked in Cyberabad Commissionerate as CI in Rajendra Nagar Traffic PS Kushaiguda Police also in Hyderabad City Commissionerate as inspector of Mahankali Traffic PS, CCS D.D, Hyderabad. He is presently discharging his duties in SHE Module, Women Safety Wing, TS, which co-ordinates with 331 SHE Teams of Telangana State. He enabled all the unit of She Teams to become active. He has been a role model to all SHE Teams of the Telangana State through his conduct initiative as well as exhibits the need of 'male officer', if gender sensitive can improve the work culture and citizen response on a much higher scale. Under his discharge, SHE Teams have become more responsive, women friendly and all are able to use technology in a big way to reach out to victims and complaints.
