Update: 2020-02-13 01:07 IST

Having a morning food routine is extremely important as it helps you to get a head start to the day. Equally important is indulging ina healthy breakfast as it fuels us with energy that takes us through most of the morning.

Listed below are the 4 things Soha follows diligently dailyto begin her day. Read on!

Drink water

I usually begin the day with a glass of water. Alternatively, you could also drink lukewarm water with a few drops of lemon.

I usually drink about a litre of water by mid-morning, as a lot of us tend to get busy with work through the day and aren't as diligent to ensure our body gets the regular amount it needs through the day.

Snack on high-proteins

Next, I start thinking about getting some exercise but before that, I need my dose of energy. Also, I mostly wake up feeling hungry so I snack on something healthy to pack in the right nutrients. My go-to option is to eat a handful of almonds.

It is fuss-free and makes for a good pre-workout snack, owing to its nutrient-richcomposition. Almonds are a rich source of protein, which is not only energy-yielding but also known to contribute to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass.

This promotes a feeling of fullness so you don't resort to unhealthy snack options. Almonds are also lightweight, and very easy to carry while travelling to and from the gym.

Be mindful and exercise

I think it is important to have a mindful and active morning, as it sets the tone for the day. This could be easily done with yogasana and pranayama.

I usually choose a calm place in myhome and start with pranayama for about 5 – 10 min; this helps to streamline my thoughts and center my focus. After that, I practice asanas for at least 30 minutes. Yoga is my way of staying healthy and fit.

Plan your meals

Most often than not we tend to opt for unhealthymeal options because they seem easy, like grabbing a burger on the go.Overtime, this contributes to health problems.

I plan my meals so that I make healthy meal choices. If we plan, there are plenty of recipes that don't require much effort or time to prepare them.

I exclude any deep-fried snacks/ sweets from my meal plan. Instead,I addseasonal fruits, veggies and all-time favourite nuts and dry fruits.
