Television is the place to be!

Karnataka-based Chaitra Rai, the TV actress who was pervious seen in 'That is Mahalaxmi' on Zee TV is back with yet another role that is way different from the ones she has essayed so far.

'Akka Chellelu', also on Zee Telugu is about the life of sisters. During an interview, Chaitra, who plays the role of Dharani, shared some interesting details about her character, and how she is in real life.

"The show 'Akka Chellellu' is a story of two sisters, who see a lot of struggles from being from a middle-class family.

The role of the younger sister is played by me and here I try to compromise on everything, and the elder sister named Sravani is the dominating one. She becomes a lawyer and the younger one played by me stays back at home doing tailoring and looking after her father's business."

When asked if she could connect her reel life dots with real life ones, she said, "I like to live a simple life and so I could really connect to my character Dharini and a little to Sravani. I try and adjust with little things in life."

Having acted in various TV serials like 'Ashtachamma', 'Ala Modalaindi' and many more the actress now feels comfortable in what she is doing. Speaking about her initial days as an actor, she says, "I always wanted to get into the field of acting. I completed my bachelor's degree in hotel management.

I have been getting offers for acting even before I completed my academics. I started my acting career in Kannada serials. And then, I slowly started getting offers from the Telugu industry and so I continued to work with the same."

Living in Hyderabad for seven years now, the actress has made this place her home. Learning the language was a task this actress, "I never used to understand Telugu; I just understood the word Bojanam which means the same in Kannada.

Whenever people started talking in Telugu I always used to feel that they are talking about me. Slowly, I started making notes and translating words to Kannada and then I started talking in Telugu.

It took me around a year to become perfect in the language; now, people who meet me are always in a state of shock when they get to know that I am not a Telugu girl."

Her earlier stint in television was a grey character and now doing a role that is quite opposite.

Does she find it challenging, "Usually audience do not accept a grey character doing a positive role, but then, they received me in a good way.

For me every work is a challenge and the roles that I play are also challenging and to impress audience is lot more a challenge than anything as they expect so much, and I have to live up to it."

The actress who gets inspired by real life stories has much to say about her inspiration, "Sruti Naidu is also a television actress from Karnataka.

She portrayed many roles. From being an artist, she became a director and producer. She is the person whom I look up to as an inspiration."

The small screen diva is not aiming for films, she wishes to continue her career in the Television industry, and going forward she wishes to open her production house.
