That awkward moment...

Sunitha Revuri, a 3rd year student created an installation 'Mirror'. It is a reflection of a situation where you were alone in your dressing room looking into mirror, making all sorts of sillyfaces, talking to yourself as if your reflection in the mirror was a stranger or a person whom you secretly admire, and all of a sudden someone walks into the room.

How did you feel then? Little embarrassed, little awkward, wishing you could turn invisible. But it wasn't that bad, was it?

But imagine you walked into your close friend's (a boy) room and saw him in front of a mirror all admiring himself dressed up in a 'Saree'.

About her work Sunitha says, "My installation is about LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trarugender, & Queer) community. My attempt through this installation is to capture those few seconds of unconformable. awkward. shocking and embarrassing moments for both the person in front of the mirror as well as the person who entered the room; exposed to the fact that his friend whom he thought he knew all these days is clearly lot more."

"My main intention behind this installation is to bring awareness, about the simple fact that any person who belongs to LGBTQ community is like anyone one of us. They too are the sons and daughters of a mother and a father, who love them dearly no matter what.

Like us, they are intellectuals and also professionals; doctors, engineers, lawyers and much more. So why not stop judging and let them be. By the way, who are we to judge them?" adds Sunitha.
