Wearing many hats with aplomb
The 63-year Dr Shobha Devi Nakkana is a Diabetes and Obesity specialist and International researcher. She worked in the UK for 20 years and is now giving her valuable services to the needy in Hyderabad.
This sexagenarian woman has won numerous awards and won competitions, and the latest one in her kitty is National-Super Classic Mrs India-2019.
Dr Shobha Devi introduces herself as a mother of two, and grandmother to a delightful 3-year-old. She works in the deprived areas of the old city of Hyderabad for the last 10 years as she "wanted to give back to society from what almighty has been kind enough to give to me".
Her work has made a tremendous difference to the people in the area. Notable among her recognitions is an award from the president for her Outstanding work in Tuberculosis Projects in the World Health Organization (WHO).
For her social work she has won a Dr APJ Abdul Kalam award as an Achiever in the Field of Social Work.
Currently she works as a consultant for Lifespan Diabetes and Metabolic Clinics for their branch in west Marredpally in Secunderabad.
Yet, she continues her work for the underprivileged children in the Urban slums helping with education, health and helping them economically as she feels there is a great need to help these children so that they come up to be on par with their peers in urban areas.
On the sidelines of her social work and academic activities, she like to participate in pageants; she was the winner of Super Classic Mrs India Telangana-2019 Crown; in the pageant held on May 5,she has also awarded title of Mrs Timeless Beauty.
She travels extensively all around the world, presenting research papers, giving talks at conferences and visiting her children going ahead as a winner from the Mrs India Platform, in addition to her work in urban slums.
She also wants to showcase how much a married Indian woman can and has achieved and intends to motivate and encourage women in India and around the world to bring out their strengths and talents.
She strongly believes that a society with strong focused women will go a long way in paving way for Global peace.
Very soon Dr Shobha Devi will also be receiving Indian Glory Award-2019 in Jaipur on November 11, followed by an award in recognition of her work in the medical fields by The International Diabetes Federation at their conference, which will held in Busan in South Korea on December 2 to 6, 2019.
Never to rest on her laurel and straddling with equal aplomb the demanding world of medicine and ever in focus fashion fields, she continues her journey.
She is being awarded an Obesity Postgraduation on December17, 2019 at a convocation UK, yet another feather in her cap of academics.
