Delhi schools to reopen after winter break on Monday

New Delhi: The Directorate of Education on Saturday said that all government, government-aided, and private recognised schools in Delhi will resume regular classes for all grades (from Pre-School to Class 8) physically from November 20.

This decision comes in the wake of improved Air Quality Index (AQI).

The winter break, which was initially declared from November 9 to 18, due to severe air quality conditions in Delhi, led to the closure of schools.

However, with the AQI showing positive signs and the revocation of the earlier order invoking Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) by the Sub-Committee on GRAP, schools are now set to reopen.

The order specifies that outdoor sports activities and morning assemblies will not be held for the next one week from the issuance of this order.

Director of Education, Himanshu Gupta, has said that this decision is made under the powers vested in the Administrator as per Rule 43 of the Delhi School Education Rules, 1973, delegated to the Director of Education.

The order directs all school authorities to inform parents well in advance about the resumption of physical classes and the temporary suspension of certain activities.
