JEE Main-2021 tentative schedule announced

Hyderabad : The National Testing Agency (NTA) has notified tentative schedule for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main-2021. Accordingly, the examination will be held for four days from February 22 to 25, 2021 and the examination will be held in 13 languages. The registration process for the same commences from December 15 and candidates can apply till January 15, 2021, through online mode visiting jeemain.nta.nic.in.

As per the NTA announcement, the entrance examination will be held in multiple shifts from the ensuing academic year. The multiple shifts will be spread over for three to four days, in February, March, April and May 2021.

Giving the much sought after relief against the backdrop of the pandemic impact, the NTA said that candidates appearing for JEE-Main next year will have to attempt 75 out of 90 questions, or 25 out of 30 questions in each of the sections like Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. The decision has been taken following several school boards in the country reducing the syllabus of two years course of 10+2 level.

According to the NTA, the multiple session spreading over four months is intended to provide multiple chances to the candidates to improve their scores. This provides an opportunity for the candidates who fail to perform well in the first attempt.

Further, a candidate gaining the first-hand experience from his first attempt can correct his mistakes committed, and give his best in the next attempt. Also, those who could not attend the examination for various reasons need not drop a whole year and waste their precious time. The NTA will consider the best of the scores to prepare the merit and rank lists, it said.
