7260 students join at DPS, Nacharam

Hyderabad: Live green, love green, think green is the message from Delhi Public School, Nacharam to create awareness of environment friendly programme initiated by Telangana government. To show solidarity with the fourth phase of Haritha Haram all 7260 students from DPS, Nacharam have joined together to adopt plant saplings on Tuesday with 2000 students assembled in the auditorium to take the Green pledge. It was formally inaugurated on the occasion of the World Environment Day.

Dr Bonthu Rammohan, Mayor of Hyderabad and M Dana Kishore, GHMC Commissioner were the chief guests for the event. They addressed the students to be part of the main vision of the Haritha Haram scheme to increase the tree cover in the State.

School Chairman M Komariah has initiated the greening project over these years wherein more than 2 lakh saplings have been planted at various locations. The green pledge and oath was administered by Principal, Sunitha Rao.

The other dignitaries who graced the occasion were B Subhash Reddy, MLA, Uppal, P Devender Reddy, Corporator, Mallapur, T Dasarath, Deputy Commissioner, Kapra Circle, B Subhash Reddy, MLA, Uppal, S Srinivas Reddy, Zonal Commissioner, LB Nagar Zone, V Krishna, Additional Commissioner UBD, Smt. Neeraja Gandhi, Director UBD and G Yugandhar, Deputy Director UBD & Robin Michael, PRO.

The Green Crusaders of DPS along with all the students Heads of various departments, parents and students took an oath today with utmost sincerity in order to recognize the immense benefits of a green Earth towards sustenance of life on our planet.

To spread the awareness of "Go Green" parents and 7260 students adopted the plants given by the school Management. Concept Gardens - Hanging Garden, Vertical Garden, Herbal Garden, Tyre Garden, Birthday Garden, Terrace garden are few of the initiatives of the school.

Barren land adoption by both DPS and CII green school initiatives were taken up. IGBC has awarded Platinum Rating to DPS, Nacharam.

Head Mistresses, Sireesha and Krishna Sri worked towards the success of this programme. Mass Avenue plantation drive with each student taking an oath to get at least 10 saplings planted in their community is the latest initiative of DPS Nacharam.
