A summer camp with an experiential feel

Hyderabad: A Hyderabad-based after-school learning company Leo and Mike launched a three-month new learning programme for students, beginning April, in the age group of 4 to 14 years old an event held in Hyderabad recently.

Their focus is on "approaching learning in a new way, with a motive to make children self-learners. One of our objectives is gamifying the entire system. We will work with schools, parents and other important stakeholders to create new hands-on learning programmes that will be path-breaking not just in India but in the entire world said Apurva Ayyagari, co-founder and Director of Learning Programmes.

The summer camp programme is a set of project-based, experiential learning and design thinking. These camps are happening across different venues in at Oakridge, Gachibowli, Pioneer World School, Jubilee Hills, Amar Chitra Katha Learning Centre, Film Nagar, Inspire Preschool and Enrichment Centre, Gachibowli and Suchitra Academy, Suchitra, Secunderabad.

Their camps are interdisciplinary and project-based programmes that are centered on experiential learning and design thinking. These world-class learning programmes cut across science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics and design (STEAM-D).

Students are allowed the freedom to invent their own projects and have a chance to learn new skills, spending their summer vacation working on meaningful and productive projects.

Makerspace is an after-school learning programme that has been recently launched. Makerspace will be designated spaces where children can come in and explore, build and create anything with their own ideas. For ages 9 to 14 there will be various work stations across verticals like Robotics, Programming, Visual Design, Film Making and Fabrication. For younger children age 5 to 8 they have applied Sciences, Effective Communication, Mathematics and Environmental Sciences.
