Corporate Greenathon Run held in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: More than 1000 runners participated in the 10K/5K/3K CII Corporate Greenathon run organized by Confederation of Indian Industry –YI-IWN Telangana, in association with Pallavi International School Gandipet & Pallavi Engineering College Nagole and powered by Hyderabad Runners here on at Pallavi International School Gandipet.
The run was flagged off by Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, ITes, Malka Komaraiah Chairman Pallavi Group of Schools, Venkataraman CSR-ITC, Subhajit Saha Director CII, Dr. Murali President - Hyderabad Runners & Tejaswini Manogna. The other dignitaries present were Sushil, Director Pallavi Model School, Nidhi Gera Principal Pallavi International School Gandipet, Praveen VP and Robin Michael PRO Pallavi and DPS schools.
The run was conducted to raise awareness on air pollution & mark the World Environment Day which is being celebrated on 5 June all over the world. The participants enthusiastically participated in the warm up Zumba sessions by Rafiq Shaik from Vitamin F3. A total of 1000 runners participated in the run, which include entrepreneurs, professionals, business heads, amateurs, students etc.
This year theme for the World Environment Day is "Beat Air Pollution". Right to quality life and living is envisaged in the Article 21 of the Constitution and we all as citizens are entitled for clean air , water and hygiene conditions. Corporates like ITC, Apollo, Cyient, Broadridge, Connect, Tech Vedika, Novartis, Satyam Ven, Mining India and many more corporates participated in the run.
The run aimed at promoting a healthier, happier and greener corporate living by adopting an active lifestyle and breaking the shackles of a sedentary life. CII wants to promote recreational running a and make it a lifestyle in the long run. The timing certificate of this run will be valid for Airtel Hyderabad Marathon Qualification.
The run is aimed to bring awareness among the citizens about air pollution, air pollution is responsible for more deaths than other risk factors such as alcohol use and physical inactivity.
