DAV remembers Mahatma Anand Swami

Hyderabad: Staunch Arya Samaj leader and renowned social activist who spearheaded a campaign against attack on Hindus by Nizam of Hyderabad in 1939 and got jailed for 7 months were commemorated from October 15-24. Commemoration of sacrifices and services rendered by Mahatma Anand Swami towards freedom struggle, oppression on Hindus in Malabar in 1921 and establish a daily called Milap on April 13, 1923. Through his newspaper, Milap, he inspired and motivated lakhs and lakhs of Hindus against the British and Nizams. Later he becomes a leader of DAV movement.

K Parthipan, Principal DAV school, Safilguda Hyderabad stated that to commemorate great sacrifices of Mahatma Anand Swamiji, the school organised a 3-day Chetna Shivir wherein sacrifices and contributions of Mahatma Anand Swami was remembered and elaborated to the students. 80 students participated in three-day residential programmes. The day started with meditation, yoga, pravachan by renowned Arya Samaji Hari Kishan, Vice President Recitation of Veda Mantras and sanskars were imparted to students besides focusing on simple living. The students were kept out of all electronic gadgets including TV. The books written by Anand Swamiji was also read out to students to rekindle patriotism.

On the concluding day, the school took massive rally flagged off led by Aryan Vittal Rao, Secretary and the Principal. 1500 students participated holding placards bearing social message on Drug Abuse, Alcohol, Gutka, Save Girl Child, Save Water, Save Planet, Plant Trees, Wear Helmet, Female foeticide culture & Sanskar, importance of Vedas, helping each other, dowry system and pollution. Songs of Arya Samaj and patriotic songs were played through loudspeaker moving in an open truck and jeep.

The rally started from DAV School, Safilguda and went through Anandbagh and Malkajgiri and ended at DAV school with a coverage of 8 km. Students all through the route made awareness campaign to general public. Big thermocol models of cigarettes, alcohol bottles and drugs were displayed on the truck. Vittal Rao addressing the students asked them to remember the sacrifices of Mahatma Anand Swamiji and ideals of Arya Samaj. He also narrated the history of Hyderabad and how Arya Samaj played major role in getting independence.

K. Parthipan, Principal as launched projects like No Anger Day, Appreciation Day, Helping Day and Ozone Day through which every DAV student becomes effective contributing member to the society.

These projects were launched in commemoration of Mahatma Anand Swamiji death anniversary (Swarnavotsavam), Incidentally DAV organisations (940 schools and colleges) is being headed by the Grandson of Mahatma Anand Swami, Dr. Punam Suri for the past eight years.
