DPS students pedal for a cause; pledge to promote spirit of responsibility

Hyderabad: Over 1,000 students of Delhi Public School, Nadergul, participated in the Haritha Haram and 305 cycled for 8.6 km from all walks of life to promote a greener world on Saturday. The Wheelathon was flagged off by J Vishnu Vardhan Rao- Forest Range Officer, Satya Aruna, Executive officer CII-IGBC, M Komaraiah, Chairman DPS, Yasasvi, President Wheelath on Foundation, Anup Kumar Yama, Roller Skate Athlete, Arjuna Awardee, Maxwell Trevor, renowned Cyclist, BharathThammineni, Trekking Enthusiasts,.

Padma JyotiTuraga- Principal and KiranKhanna-Vice Principal, Delhi Public School Nadergul. It was conducted with the high degree of earnestness and passion. Haritha-Haram programme commenced with the plantation and donation of the saplings to all the participants followed by a green oath, administered by Mr. Vishnu Vardhan Rao.

The Green pledge fostered the spirit of responsibility towards our mother earth. It was a moment of immense pride for the school as the school has also registered with Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) to get certified.

Wheelathon is a student- initiated cycling marathon that runs under the motto 'Safer, Greener, Fitter', originally started to promote the culture of cycling and show support to the underprivileged sports enthusiasts.

However, since its inception, it has been decided to diversify the intent with various themes concerning sustainability and wellbeing. The aim of Wheelathon is to build a sustainable community through cycling and environmental awareness.

Maxwell Trevor motivated and admonished the students for taking the initiatives to make the earth a better place to live in and also emphasised to be consistent throughout as consistency leads to perfection. He also exhorted them to uphold the values.

Vishnu Vardhan Rao complimented the initiatives of the school towards the environment. Komariah urged the students to be eco-friendly to rule out the environmental issues. Bharath Thammineni encouraged the students to be sportive and dedicated towards oneself. The Principal, Padma Jyoti Turaga also appreciated and congratulated all the participants.
