GITAM alumini come together

Hyderabad: School of Technology of GITAM Deemed-to-be University, Hyderabad and GITAM University Hyderabad Alumni Association (GUHAA) celebrated "1st Decade & Third Alumni Meet" at Kinnera Hall.

Both programmes were together commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Uday Kumar Dintyala, Executive Director, AT&T, Dr Avinash K Dalal, President, All India MSME Association, Prof N Siva Prasad, Pro Vice-Chancellor and DVVSR Varma, Resident Director.

It was followed by the felicitation of all the guests. The occasion was graced by the alumni of varied batches who had come to their alma mater from various parts of the country. A good number of alumni joined the celebrations, along with their families.

Uday Kumar, in his Chief Guest address lauded the efforts of the university in organising such a meet and highlighted the role of alumni in shaping and strengthening their alma mater.

He narrated a story of Tenali Ramalinga 17 elephants and how he solved by adding one King's elephant to resolve the dispute of three brothers. He spelt out three fundamental tenets that he wanted all the alumni to keep in mind: Interdisciplinary Innovation, Collective Spirit, Working togetherness and an aspiration for a startup. He advised to setup an innovation lab by the contribution of GITAM Alumni.

Urging the alumni to become 'job creators instead of job seekers', Dr Avinash K Dalal said the younger generation should actively strive to setup own enterprises. In his presidential speech, Prof Siva Prasad said that the alumni are the treasured assets of the University and were an important stakeholder in the process of the advancement of the institution.

He made an announcement that, GITAM is going to setup a TV studio by spending about Rs.30 lakhs and planning to launch a School of Law, Fashion Technology, B.Ophthalmology and Bio-Medical courses in the coming years. He advised the alumni to be in touch with the alma mater and share their experiences with the budding engineers.

Dr P Trinatha Rao, President, GUHAA in his inaugural address, welcomed the alumni with his compassionate words and mentioned the object of holding the Alumni Meet. Dibyatanay Joardar, Secretary, GUHAA underscored the significance of alumni network and advised the former students to fully participate in all the activities of the forum.
