GITAM engineering admission counselling begins
Visakhapatnam: The online counselling for admission into engineering, pharmacy and B Arch courses began at GITAM Deemed to be University here on Thursday.
Apart from Visakhapatnam campus, the university is also conducting online admission counselling in Vijayawada, Tirupathi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru till May 11.
On Thursday, counselling was held for 1-6000 rank holders.
To encourage students on national level, GITAM is offering merit scholarships of `30 crore from 2019 academic year, GITAM In-Charge Vice-Chancellor Prof K Sivarama krishna informed during the counselling.
Addressing parents he said that the university would offer free education to top rankers in GITAM Admission Test-2019 (GAT-2019) and other entrance tests such as JEE main exam, AP-EAMCET and Telangana-EAMCET. He also informed that the university has decided to give special scholarships to students who are opting core engineering branches like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Biotechnology.
While addressing the students GITAM Institute of Technology Principal Prof K Lakshmiprasad mentioned that all engineering branches are equally great in terms of subject knowledge as well as the employment opportunities available; it is very important for the students to make an informed choice that meet their interest as well as aptitude.
He informed that the university is updating the syllabus time to times as per the industrial requirements. This year noted IT Company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) designed the new program Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS) and GITAM is offering this new program with AICTE approval, he added. GITAM Admissions Director Prof K Narendra said that this year around 50,000 students from different states has written the GITAM Admission Test (GAT-2019) and the university is admitting the students basing on the GAT-2019 ranks in first phase.
The university senior faculty members Dr N Venugopal, Prof.Tammireddy, Dr Srinivas and Training and Placement Director Commander Gurumoorthy Gangadhraran addressed the parents.
