GITAM Foundation Award for Pranab
Hyderabad: Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) is going to celebrate '39th Foundation Day' at Dr. Yellapragada Subbarao Auditorium, GIMSR, GITAM Campus on August 10. The 13th President of India Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee will be the Chief Guest on this occasion. GITAM is going to honour Pranab with the GITAM Foundation Award for his exemplary service to the nation.
Mukherjee is a man of unparalleled experience in governance with the rare distinction of having served at different times as Foreign, Defence, Commerce and Finance Minister. Over five decades of exemplary service, Pranab was elected to the Rajya Sabha five times and twice to the Lok Sabha.
Presentation of GITAM Foundation Award will be held in the presence of M. Sri Bharat, President, GITAM and the programme will be presided over by Prof. K. Siva Rama Krishna, Vice-Chancellor, GITAM.
'GITAM Foundation Award' was instituted by Dr. M.V.V.S. Murthi with a corpus of Rs.3 crores. This is awarded every year to an eminent person in recognition of the exemplary services rendered by him / her in the chosen field (Education, Economics, Science, Literature, Fine Arts, Public Service etc) for the benefit of the society at large. The award consisting of a plaque and a cheque for Rs.10 lakhs is presented to the eminent personality in recognition of the services to humanity on that day.
Distinguished prior honorees of GITAM Foundation Award are Dr. Karan Singh, P.K.Bishnoi, Dr. P.M.S.Prasad, Dr. Sanjaya Baru, Justice B.Sudershan Reddy, Dr. M.S.Swaminathan, Dr. V.R.Panchamukhi, Dr. C.Rangarajan, Dr. A.Sivathanu Pillai, Prof. C.N.R.Rao, Dr. Takaaki Kajita and Dr. Michael W.Young.
