GITAM inks MoU with Administrative Staff College of India

Hyderabad: One of the premier organisations in the country, Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) is to train GITAM faculty and students on Solid Waste Management subject particularly on Sludge and Septage Management topic for smart city future requirements.

The ASCI Environmental Department Head Prof.G.Subrahmanyam and GITAM Deemed to be University Registrar Prof.K V G D Balaji exchanged the MoU documents in the presence of In-Charge Vice-Chancellor Prof.K.Sivaramakrishna here on Friday.

As part of MoU the ASCI will support GITAM in developing content on Faecal Sludge and Septage Management topic for introduction in the B.Tech 4th Semester particularly in environmental Engineering subject in Civil Engineering.

The topic will also be implemented in Solid Waste management subject in M.Sc. Environmental Sciences in 2nd semester. The ASCI also have shown interest to provide fellowship to motivated students in the areas of faecal sludge and Septage Management.

While addressing the gathering ASCI Prof. G. Subrahmanyam mentioned that they are offering training, research and consultancy services in the field of urban management with a focus on urban sanitation including the field of faecal sludge and septage management.

During the interactive meeting with ASCI team GITAM President M. Sribharat observed that smart cities like Visakhapatnam highly needed healthy environment for sustainable development. He expressed that GITAM is ready to support ASCI training and research activities in and around Visakhapatnam on urban management.

He informed that BARC has established a bio waste treatment plant in GITAM campus and the Department of Science and Technology (DST) established a water quality testing laboratory in GITAM. He said that university is giving high priority to environmental research activities in coming years.

GITAM Hyderabad Campus Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof.N Sivaprasad, Institute of Technology Principal Prof.K.Lakshmiprasad, Institute of Science Principal Prof.M.Sarathchandra Babu, Environmental Science Professors Prof.K.Veerabhadram, Prof.Ramesh, Prof.N.Srinivas and others participated in the programme.
