GITAM to launch B Sc (Blended) course
Hyderabad: The Bachelor of Science (Blended) would be a new degree at GITAM (Deemed-to-be University), Hyderabad in the 2019-20 academic year, that has been developing in close collaboration with the University of Melbourne (UoM), Australia.
This innovative new curriculum integrates the four major disciplines of science (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Biology) into a common curriculum for all students for two years, followed by a strategic but diverse choice of major streams in third year.
The University of Melbourne will recognise the B.Sc. (Blended), and graduates will be eligible to apply for postgraduate Science programmes at the UoM on an equivalent basis. It will also promote the quality assured credentials of the B.Sc. (Blended) to support students who wish to explore postgraduate options at other institutions.
The UoM delegation consisting of three persons Prof. Andrew Drinnan, Prof. Alex Johnson, Associate Dean, International and Jessica Piesse, Project Coordinator, B.Sc. (Blended) programme visited GITAM, Hyderabad on Wednesday. They have interacted with Prof. N.Siva Prasad, Pro Vice-Chancellor, GITAM, Hyderabad, Prof. G A Rama Rao, Principal, School of Science, HoDs and faculty of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics Departments.
The delegates briefed about the Blended programme as well as the merits of UoM. Prof. Rama Rao briefed about GITAM. After deliberations they came to a conclusion to start this program after the approval of the Board of Studies. Mean while both parties will enter in to a letter of intent.
Prof. B S Madhava Rao, Retd. Professor, Pune University and Advisor to Australian delegates, Prof. Ch Sanjan, Principal, School of Science, Prof. Rambabu Gundla, HoD, Chemistry, Prof. Balaji Rao Ravuri, HoD, Physics, Prof. K Maruthi Prasad, HoD, Mathematics were also took part on this occasion.
