Sri City/Tirupati: The full-time MBA and PhD programmes were inaugurated on Monday, at IFMR GSB's Sri City campus. The MBA batch consists of 175 students with diverse backgrounds – geographic, academics, work experience, as well as gender – with 41 per cent of them being women students. The PhD batch has seven scholars with backgrounds in economics, finance, operations and data science.

The inaugural event was graced by T. Kannan, CEO and MD of Thiagarajar Mills. Dr. V. Anantha Nageswaran, Dean of IFMR GSB, delivered the welcome note, and Prof M. Nagarani, Chairperson, MBA Programme, delivered the vote of thanks.

Welcoming the batch of cohorts, Dr. Anantha Nageswaran spoke about the relevance of management education in today's business and economic environments, and how IFMR GSB's revamped and well-crafted MBA and PhD programmes would benefit the participants.

Kannan, in his address to the students, stressed upon having ordinary qualities in extraordinary measures. He spoke about developing a moral compass, finding a mentor, and emulating a leader. He recommended students to become life-long learners, to look beyond symptoms of success, and to develop new ideas, as great ideas can bring in transformation in our society.
