Hyderabad: Personal safety awareness drive at Meridian School
Hyderabad: Meridian School for Boys and Girls, Banjara Hills organised a special assembly to create awareness about the need for safety and security in the world today. The main objective of the gathering was to sensitize children to the need to fight for one's own and others' safety in society.
Special guests on the solemn occasion were Sunita, the Radio Jockey from Radio City 91.1 FM and Rohit Gandhi, the first journalist to interview Malala Yousafzai personally.
The morning assembly began with a prayer song imploring people to be determined not to give up one's freedom at any cost. It was followed by the sharing of some safety tips to be practiced by primary as well as senior children.
Sunita conducted an interactive session with the students on how they would act and react in situations of emergency.
Rohit Gandhi shared his experience of interviewing Malala and advised the students to fight for human rights the way Malala did. On this occasion, the National and International Taekwondo champions of the school, Armon Gulzar and Elahe Gulzar demonstrated some defence techniques on the stage.
The Principal Dr D Usha Reddy addressed the students sensitizing them to the need of the hour, learning safety measures and fighting for justice and also administered a pledge which the students repeated with sincerity.
A meditation session was held by the Principal for the students motivating them to strengthen themselves from within. In conclusion, all students held their inspirational placards up and poems written in support of the cause were readout.
