ICFAI signs MoU with Green Business Certificate Institute

Hyderabad: The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, (IFHE) a Deemed to-be University Hyderabad and The Green Business Certificate Institute (GBCI), the organisation that certifies all Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) projects globally, have established a strategic alliance on Monday for the purpose of promoting green strategies and certification of buildings and projects for the sustainable development of business.

To achieve these objectives, this partnership focuses on:

Promoting education and implementation of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Lab at various institutions of the ICFAI Group to increase the widespread adoption of LEED and green buildings LEED certification for all new and existing buildings on the campus. LEED Green Associate and Accredited Professional credentialing workshops for students Training and workshops for faculty of ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education.

"The partnership between ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education and GBCI will not only provide the University's students and faculty with the best sustainable building education and skills, but this instruction will be conducted in a truly integrative manner by combining green building education with a physical environment that promotes green building best practices that also enhances the health and wellbeing of occupants through its LEED certification," said Gopalakrishnan Padmanabhan, Managing Director, GBCI APAC & ME.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr J Mahender Reddy, Vice Chancellor, ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, said, "We at ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education are committed to develop professionals with a sense of social and moral responsibilities. Having expertise in fields of Business Management, Law, Engineering, Architecture, and Research, IFHE strives to achieve an overall sustainable and eco-sensitive development. As an initiative in this direction, we are glad to partner and work with GBCI, a world leader spread across over 160 countries in the fields of sustainability and green buildings. This initiative will not only nurture awareness towards sustainable environment and social responsibility in the students but will also broaden their prospects of employability and higher studies".
