Outreach Internship Programme (OIP) is one of the research initiatives of IIIT-Naya Raipur. The institute has been organising this programme since last 2 years. Many students who participated in the previous programmes, have got benefited through this programme, which is evident by papers published by them. With this motivation, this year also, IIIT-NR invited students from all over India to spend 02 months in the institute, for carrying out research, under the supervision of IIIT-NR faculty members.

This year, OIP had attracted 145 applications from institutions all over India. Out of these, 30 selected students from 19 different institutes, are currently doing their internship at IIIT-NR. Some of them are from the State of CG while others are from reputed institutions like NIT's, IIIT's, well-known private universities etc., of 10 different states. IIIT-NR is proud to host, guide and provide them exposure to research through its high quality laboratories, recent advanced technologies, tools and library facilities, in addition to financial support.

The purpose of the OIP is to enable undergraduate students carry out independent research in their field of interest. Students also get opportunity to attend special lectures, workshops and social activities, which makes their stay a rewarding experience. An interactive session with the interns was conducted on June 26, 2019, in which all the interns took part enthusiastically and shared their experience at IIIT-NR.

In their feedback some interns expressed that at IIIT-NR, they got exposure to the new technologies and hands-on experience on various advanced tools, about which they were not aware and which are not available at their parent institutions. Director IIIT-NR, Dr. Pradeep K. Sinha, addressed the interns in the session and inspired them to make best use of the opportunity provided to them, by the Institute. He expressed hope that this outreach programme will help institutions in CG and elsewhere in India, in availing greater exposure to latest technology, research and also in understanding the unique culture of IIITNR.

The whole programme was co-ordinated by Dr Ramakrishna Bandi, Assistant Professor, IIIT-NR. Dean Academics, Dean Research and all faculty members of IIIT-NR took part in the interactive session with the interns and gave their inputs to the interns.
