Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations at HPS, Begumpet
Hyderabad: Year 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of India's victory in the Kargil war. The anniversary celebrations for this year will be spread over three days from July 25-27 with the theme 'Remember, Rejoice and Renew'. The Kargil war was fought for more than 60 days and ended with India regaining control of all the previously held territory which had been lost to Pakistan.
The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas on Thursday to honour the Kargil war heroes, who had laid down their lives for the country. The Chief Guest for the celebration was Lt General Rajeev Chopra, Director General NCC, an alumnus of National Defence Academy Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. The Chief Guest was received by the ANOs of all three wings of NCC, pilots and horseback riders.He paid floral tributes to the martyrs.The School choir perfectly blended patriotism with melody. In her speech, Bhargavi spoke about the contribution of the Armed Forces.
The Chief Guest addressed NCC cadets and students of grades 11 & 12.He said to 'remember' our martyrs, by revisiting their sacrifices, 'rejoice' by celebrating the victory in Kargil and 'renew' our resolve to safeguard the honour of the tri-colour. The other notable delegates present were Air Commodore NN Reddy, Deputy Director-General, NCC AP and Telangana State, Group Commander Col. N Ramalingam and Col Rajesh K Rao, CO 7 Telangana Girls Battalion .The Chief Guest visited the NCC office and planted a sapling to commemorate the courage and determination of the Kargil war heroes.
