New Under Graduate programmes from GITAM in FinTech, Logistics

Visakhapatnam: GITAM Deemed to be University is launching new Under Graduate programmes BBA (FinTech) and BBA (Logistics) through its B-School GITAM Institute of Management from the academic year 2019-20, said Institute Director Prof.Y.Gouthama Rao in a media conference on Friday. He said that these programmes are first of its kind in the country.

He mentioned that after observing AP industrial logistics requirements the university has decided to start logistics in BBA in association with Logistics Skill Council, Government of India. He said that BBA-Logistics is a unique Industry/Academia partnered twinning programme, where the student would spend the odd semesters in the college attending classes and gaining knowledge, the even semester will be spent in the industry gaining apprenticeship and applying the theoretical knowledge gained.

He said that GITAM shoulders the responsibility of providing talented students to Vizag FinTech Valley with BBA-FinTech programme.

He briefed that FinTech covers the whole slew of latest technology that is gaining prevalence in the market, these are: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Business/Data Analytics, IoT, AR/VR and Blockchain. These skill sets are highly sought after by the newer industries that are disrupting the traditional businesses and vital for students to gain that insight and be relevant in the market, he added.

He informed that the university is also offering 2-year Post Graduate courses, which are: MBA with specializations in Marketing, Finance, Systems, Operations and Business Analytics, MBA (HRM), MBA (FinTech), MBA (International Business, International Banking &Finance, Global Logistics&Supply Chain Management). The 3-year Under Graduate courses offered are: BBA (Entrepreneurial Orientation), BBA (Management Accounting) with CIMA of UK, B.Com (Honors) with ACCA of UK and BBA (Business Analytics).

Admissions Director Dr.Bangaru Raju informed that the university facilitates online and offline application and payment process for its admissions through www.gim.gitam.edu and the last date to submit the applications is June 12. GITAM FinTech Academy Coordinator Leben Johnson, Logistics Department Head Dr.Venkataiah participated in the media conference.
