Padma Shri Phoolbasan Bai Yadav felicitated

Hyderabad: On Thursday, as a part of International Women's day celebrations, RBVRR Women's college felicitated Padma Shri Smt Phoolbasan Bai Yadav, social worker and the founder of the non -governmental organization, Maa Bamleshwari Janhit Kare Samiti. She was born in a poor family in Dhangaon, Chhattisgarh and married at the age of ten. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, she was determined to rise against the odds and free communities from corruption, dowry, poverty, caste discrimination, deadly diseases and several other social and cultural evils.

The event began with the traditional ceremony of lighting the lamp, paying homage to Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy, followed by a prayer song. The function was presided by Secretary, HMVS, Prof. K Muthyam Reddy, Padma Shri Smt Phoolbasan Bai Yadav, Secretary cum correspondent, Prof. G Sudarshan Reddy and Principal, Dr K Sarada.

Smt Phoolbasan Bai Yadav spoke about the hardships in her life. She inspired the students with anecdotes on her courage in fighting against poverty and child marriage. Prof. K. Muthyam Reddy congratulated Phoolbasan Devi for her achievements and also highlighted the importance of women crusaders like Smt Phoolbasan Yadav in contemporary society.

Prof. G. Sudarshan Reddy thanked Phoolbasan devi for spending her valuable time with students and faculty of the college. Vice-Principal, Dr Achyutha Devi proposed the Vote of Thanks. The programme concluded with the national anthem.
