Hyderabad: Recycling Championship award to GITAM

Hyderabad: GITAM Deemed-to-be University, Hyderabad has bagged 'Inter College Recycling Championship Award-2018' for its Wellbeing Out of Waste (WOW) programme from ITC Limited Paper Boards. GITAM Resident Director DVVSR Varma has received the award of excellence from Dr Bonthu Rammohan, Mayor, GHMC and Dr B Janardhan Reddy, IAS, Secretary to Government, Department Education in an illuminated award ceremony held at JNTU Auditorium, Kukatpally on Wednesday.

This programme was jointly organised by ITC WOW, MARI NGO, GHMC and Education Department, Government of Telangana. In the appreciation letter they stated that, GITAM efforts in education and motivating the young generation to work for responsible waste management and environment protection resulted in collecting 45 MT of Dry Recyclable waste for recycling. They were also recognized that the consciousness and behavioural change promoted by your school has great potential to transform the waste management to be sustainable in our country. GITAM NSS Coordinator Dr PV Nagendra Kumar, WOW GITAM Student coordinator Shivaprasad Reddy were also took part in the award receiving ceremony.
