Rich tributes paid to GITAM founder

Visakhapatnam: The 81st birth anniversary of GITAM founder Dr. MVVS Murthi was observed here on Wednesday with traditional gaiety and fervour at GITAM. GITAM President M. Sribhrarath, Vice-President Prof.M.Gangadhara Rao, Secretary BVS Mohana Rao, Joint Secretary M. Bharadwaj, in-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Sivaprasad, Registrar Prof.K.V.G.D.Balaji and other senior faculty members, non teaching staff offered floral tributes at Dr.MVVS Murthi's memorial.

On the occasion a mega voluntary blood donation programme was organised at GIMSR Hospital. GITAM President M. Sri Bharat, Joint Secretary M.Bharadwaj inaugurated the blood donation camp by donating blood. Six blood banks GIMSR Hospital Blood bank, NTR Blood Bank, KGH Blood bank, Lions Blood Bank, Rotary and Red Cross blood banks have participated in the mega event. Around 1200 units have been donated voluntarily.

GIMSR Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. P. Shyam Prasad, Medical College Principal Dr.M.Jaiprakash Babu, Department of Pathology Head Dr. K V Murali Mohan, Blood Bank Officers, NSS Program Officers, large number of students participated in the programme.

Addressing an impressive commemorative meeting at GITAM School of Gandhian Studies, GITAM Chancellor Prof. K.Ramakrishna Rao said that the University is making all efforts to scale new heights in research and academics to fulfil the dreams of great visionary, Dr.MVVS Murthi. GITAM President M. Sribharath hoped that the School of Gandhian Studies will spread the message of Mahatma Gandhi in coming years to bring the change in society. Vice-President Prof. M. Gangadhara Rao mentioned that the university is trying to attain the goals set by late Dr.MVVS Murthi.
