SPMVV PGCET to be held on May 19
Tirupati: The Post-Graduation Common Entrance Test (PGCET) of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) is to be held on May 19 for the academic year 2019-20. The only women's university in the two Telugu States will provide an opportunity to women students to pursue their higher education along with providing various skills in order to make them empowered by the time they leave the campus. The 36-year old University offers nearly 50 courses in several disciplines.
The application process for the PGCET has already started from March 22 and the last date for submitting applications will be May 6. The admissions directorate has received 1300 applications so far and this figure may cross 2000 by the end of last date, said Prof P Suvarnalatha Devi.
Speaking to The Hans India, she said that those desirous of joining the University to complete their higher education should qualify in PGCET as a prerequisite as the admissions based strictly on the merit of that CET. Interested candidates should submit the application online by visiting the University website www.spmvv.ac.in, www.spmvvdoa.in said the Director.
This NAAC A grade University offer courses through SPMVVPGCET in M.Sc; M Vocational Courses; MA; Master's in Social Work Physical education, Communication and Journalism, Education and Commerce; Bachelor's in BEd and 5-year Integrated Course in BA/MA Public Policy and Anthropology.
Students can get direct admissions based on their marks in concerned Degree examinations in certain branches like MSc Biotechnology; MSc Food Technology and Master's Degree in Fine Arts; B Vocational Courses in Nutrition and Health Care Sciences and Fashion Technology and Apparel Designing; PG Diploma Courses in Early Childhood Care and Education, Family and Health Counselling, Advanced Bioinstrumentation, Yoga, Web Designing, Food Safety and Food Quality, Bioinformatics and Diploma Course in yoga.
Admissions into Bed, BTech, B Pharm, BPEd, BSc Nursing, MBA, LLB (3 and 5 years), LLM, MCA and M Pharm courses will made through various Common Entrance Tests conducted by the AP State Council of Higher Education like EAMCET, ICET, Ed CET etc., Prof Suvarnalatha Devi has said that several courses have international collaborations. The placement cell will provide job opportunities for the students who complete the courses.
Through various initiatives, the campus has rich research potential through which students can pursue their research after their PG studies. Every student irrespective of their branch will be provided life skills soon after admissions, computer applications and communication skills. Besides these, the Skill Development Centre will provide Advanced Skill Development Training.
In addition to academics, the students can have the facilities like gym within the campus, Post Office, health centre, Bank and ATM so that the students need not go out of campus for such activities. The University has good hostel facility, which can accommodate about 3000 students. The Director of Admissions said that the syllabus for PGCET will be provided in the prospectus and the examination will be held with multiple choice questions. The CET will be held at five centres – Tirupati, Kurnool, Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
