Tirupati: Artificial Intelligence has become active, powerful

Tirupati: Prof Biswanath Datta of Northern Illinois University stressed that Artificial Intelligence has become energetic, active and powerful nowadays. Amazon, Google and others have become market leaders through Python machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI). He was delivering his address at the two-day workshop on multidisciplinary applications in AI sponsored by DST-CURIE-AI held at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion Prof Datta advised the students to make use of this opportunity of learning the vibrant of AI.

Another Guest Prof Vivek Kumar Singh of Department of Computer Science, Banaras Hindu University has explained that AI was the first mathematical model of a neuron that was developed in 1943 which is a simple model and that had explained the functioning of a neuron. Later AI started working on language translations. The relationship between the brain and the mind is like hardware and software. Artificial Intelligence work in two directions as connectionist style and symbolic. During the 80 years of Artificial Intelligence (1940-2020) it has witnessed a lot of developments and now it has become a part of daily life.

The Vice Chancellor of SPMVV Prof D Jamuna highlighted the importance of AI, which is not new and part of cognitive psychology. Humans deal with cognition and life (biology) but machines work only on cognition. AI is the double-edged sword that has many advantages and applications useful in daily life and in the industry. But, the disadvantages also has to be taken care of and work on how to overcome them and convert them as useful applications.

AI CURIE coordinator Prof S Jyothi presided over the function and explained the objectives of the workshop. She said that it helps in describing the students about the process and functions of machines with intelligence. The organizing members of the workshop Dr Shaheera Begam, Dr John Sushma. Dr Indira Priyadarshini and Dr Sireesha along with staff from different departments, students, club members and others participated in the workshop.
