Telangana State, Andhra Pradesh amongst top markets for online live classes

Hyderabad: Every year, lakhs of students in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh prepare for competitive exams. Coaching centres were looked upon as the primary providers of resources and infrastructure necessary for preparation, however, they failed to effectively impact the actual process of learning. Research revealed that the Telangana region holds the second spot amongst the top 7 markets for Gradeup's Live Classes so far, the others being Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, 70 per cent of the students said that they would shift to online modes of study if they had access to live classes; the top numbers being those from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Moreover, 90 per cent of students said they prefer online modes over offline coaching, the majority of which are from Uttar Pradesh, followed by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The needs of students today are different, as the internet age has changed the key question from 'what' to read to 'how' to go about it. Ed-Tech platforms in the country aimed to make this transition but were largely unable to, as their product offerings prioritised standardisation over engagement, thus hindering the efficacy of preparation. To address this need-gap, Gradeup, India's largest preparatory platform for competitive exams, has introduced 'Gradeup Classroom –Live Classes', which focuses on engagement as the primary parameter resulting in effective preparation.

Gradeup's online Live Classes programme provides students with a virtual classroom experience, from the comfort of their homes. It is a one-of-its-kind integrated programme with 'Live Online Classes', live quizzes, weekly discussions, mock tests, 24x7 mentor support, instant doubt resolution etc. The programme follows a structured methodology and offers day-wise study plans for each course, designed and supported by the best teachers in the country for particular exam fields. To gain insights into the impact of Gradeup's Live Classes, the company conducted extensive research by surveying 10,000 students preparing for competitive exams across India.

The survey further found that 63 per cent amongst those students that prefer online learning would choose live classes for their exam preparation, while a much lower proportion, at 29 per cent, would choose recorded lectures. The foremost reasons students stated for choosing live classes are 'interactive classes for instant doubt resolution' and 'proper planning through a day-wise study plan'. These findings are clear indicators that students are increasingly realising the benefits, and opening up to the idea, of taking to live online classes for their exam preparation.

Speaking about the success in the region, Shobhit Bhatnagar, Co-founder, Gradeup said :"Preparing for competitive exams is the most important milestone in the educational journey of millions of students across the country. No amount of advertising and celebrity endorsements can do what word-of-mouth referral does for choosing modes of preparation for these exams, and this is the route we chose to take.

By focusing on the needs of our end users, we were able to create more direct value for them and effectively meet their requirements. We are thrilled that a major portion of students in this region are realising the benefits of our platform, and we are sure these numbers will continue to grow."
