VIT to focus on research with international collaborations

Hyderabad: The Govt. of India has recognized VIT, Vellore as an Institution of Eminence. This is a move from Gol to give autonomy to selected institutions of higher education in India, so as to encourage the institutions to take independent quality initiatives and move up in world ranking.

The Chancellor of VIT, Dr. G. Viswanathan told that VIT has strategies to move up to the top 500 in the world university ranking in the next three years time. He also said that in World Subject Ranking, VIT has already been placed under 550 ranking in 3 subjects namely.

(1) Computer Science and Information Systems

(2) Electrical and Electronics Engineering

(3) Chemistry.

VIT is planning to start many innovative UG and PG programmes, in collaboration with Indian industries and reputed universities abroad.

They will all be focused on niche areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Physical System, Autonomous Mobility, Wearable Technology, Smart Structures, Fin Tech, Sustainable Cyber Safety and Security, New Materials Technology, Developmental Economics, etc. Multi-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary approach will be followed in all its academics and research activities.

The foreign students and faculty members presence will be increased considerably. Co-creation will be the buzzword for VIT and it will have many reputed industries and universities in India and abroad as partners in all its endeavors. Setting up of Technology Park, Higher Education Facilitators Training Institute, On-Line Learning Centre with Unique Selling Propositions (USP), Global Skill Development Centre for preparing Indian work force for 2025 world market place, ,Multi-ethnic Community Centre with representations from various countries, etc are also on the cards.

All the students will be moulded for taking up leadership in high tech digital world of 2025. The infrastructure and the ambience will be enhanced sufficiently and suitably to alter the growth pattern of VIT, to be among the top 200 rank, faster. Dr. G. Viswanathan thanked the government for its faith on VIT and said that VIT will play a major role in the capacity building of our nation.
