Bengaluru: Hardships to mount for road users due to Metro works
Bengaluru: The Central Silk Board Junction flyover connecting Hosur-Madivala is being closed for the next four months i.e. till February due to the metro works. Due to this, motorists will get stuck in traffic. The road has been closed since three days.
Metro construction work has progressed briskly between Central Silk Board - KR Puram - Hebbal on Outer Ring Road. Silk Board Flyover will be partially closed for four months from October 21 for supplementary works. 2.5 km each on both sides of the 11 meter wide flyover is being closed for metro works. The remaining 6 meters is allowed for vehicles to travel.
Temporary barricades are being installed to carry out the up and down camp carriage way (Madivala side) loops and ramp five staging work of this flyover. As the road will be unavailable for a long time, it is likely to hit the passengers hard. Namma metro is the second largest metro network in the country with a total length of 72.2 km.
Namma metro has 66 stations (of which 7 are underground) and is under preparation for 97.84 km extension. Namma metro currently consists of two lines, Green and Purple. Bangalore Metro’s Purple Line covers 42.17 km and has 37 stations and Green Line has 29 stations. Other Yellow, Pink and Blue lines are under construction, covering a distance of 97.84 km.
