Mysuru: Members of the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes staged a protest against Centre's rejection of the Kerala government's proposed tableau on social reformer Narayana Guru. The Centre also rejected a tableau themed on Subhash Chandra Bose and his Indian National Army for the Republic Day celebtrations.

Speaking on the occasion, Commission president K.S. Shivaram said Subash Chandra Bose was a freedom fighter and our national hero who fought and died for our country.

"The legacy of the national hero was disrespected and exploited by the Centre and PM Modi for political purposes." "It's shameful that Narendra Modi, who is called the protector of Hindu community, should reject the tableau on Narayana Guru. "He must immediately create an opportunity for displaying both the tableaux in the Republic Day parade. If he fails to do this, we will urge the people to cast votes against BJP and PM Modi in the upcoming five state assembly elections."
