Senior Railway hospital doctor dies due to Covid-19

Mysuru: Dr Arun Kumar, additional chief medical superintendent, Railway hospital of South Western Railway here succumbed to the complications related to COVID-19 on Saturday.

According to SW Railway divisional commercial manager Priya Shetty, Dr Arun died due to cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment in the ICU at Apollo BGS Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital more than a month ago. He is suspected to have caught the infection while attending to patients.

He completed his MBBS from Vijay Nagar Institute of Medical Science, Bellary in 1996. He belonged to 1996 batch of Combined Medical Services of UPSC and joined railways in 1998. He served in different hospitals of the South Western Railway.

He is survived by wife Dr Devatha Laxmi, Medical Officer, Health and Family Welfare Department and a son Srikar.

Rahul Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru condoled the death of Dr Arun Kumar who, he said worked relentlessly treating railway fraternity during Covid times.
