Siddaramaiah vows to continue fight against 'corrupt' BJP government
Bengaluru: Former chief minister and Congress leader, Siddaramaiah said that he will continue his fight against the BJP till March next year.
Speaking at the convention of the divisional representatives of the Congress in Dakshin Kannada, the leader of opposition in Legislative Assembly said, "Our government delivered everything that was promised. Yet we lost in the Assembly elections. One of the reasons is that our party workers could not fully succeed in reaching out to voters and make them aware of our achievements. For any political party to make a strong impact, both organisation and its commitment to fight are important," he said.
"The BJP is indulged in corruption at a time when people are suffering from pandemic and its fallout. The State government has stopped many pro-people schemes introduced by our government. Pashu Bhagya, Ksheera Dhare and many student scholarships were stopped.
Petrol prices have reached all-time high. Petrol and diesel prices are at around Rs 85-90 per litre. Cooking gas price has been increased from Rs 350 prevailing during the UPA government to Rs 800 per cylinder now," Siddaramaiah said.
He remarked that there was an uproar over the fuel hike during the UPA government, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi was maintaining conspicuous silence now.
"Our party should reach out to each and every house to expose poor governance of BJP at both Central and State governments. To achieve this, a booth committee consisting of members of all communities should be formed and the party should be built from booth level," he added.
