Two People In Karnataka's Yeragal Area Have Died As A Result Of Contaminated Water

On Sunday, two persons are said to have died following drinking tainted water in Yeragal village in Vijayapura, casting a pall over the area. Neelamma Benkannavar (65) and Basavaraj Malagi (21), both inhabitants of Yeragal village in Muddebihal taluk, have been recognized as the victims. According to reports, four other persons have displayed similar symptoms, but they are all stable and not in danger. Aside from these six people, no one else has reported diarrhoea or other problems.

As per Zilla Panchayat officials, as numerous as six people experiencing complaints of vomiting and diarrhoea were hospitalized to the taluk hospital.

According to the preliminary report, the fatalities were not caused by water poisoning, according to ZP CEO Govinda Reddy. The sexagenarian had been transferred to the district civil hospital for more advanced care, but she succumbed after experiencing cardiac arrest, and the 21-year-old died when family relatives forced him to leave the hospital against physicians' instructions. He further added that that they will not refute that the deaths were caused by contaminated water. Water is delivered to this village via old pipelines, and Jal Jeevan Mission activity is still ongoing. Around six people have reportedly deceased in the district after drinking polluted water.

Meanwhile, to safeguard, a dedicated team lead by the taluk health officer and other officials evacuated the collected water in all of the dwellings. They we re bringing it to people's attention. Water samples were also taken by the crew, which will be forwarded to a lab to be tested for purity.
