This Dry Detox shampoo is so powerful that it keeps my hair clean for 4 days
Your hair washing schedule will be changed forever.
I have a confession: I washed my hair every day. A childhood spent in dance classes and teenage years on the tennis court introduces a simple nighttime routine: dinner, shower, bed. My hair has become used to daily washing, producing enough oil to make it a necessity. That's how I started the vicious circle of natural oils versus shampoo.
This is not necessarily a bad thing. When previously, NYC stylist Nicole Stimitz was asked by Health to say how often you should wash her hair, she said it all depends on your hair type, scalp condition, and product use... But the average for a normal scalp is ideally one to three washes a week (not my seven previous standard washes).
In my desperate fight to break the cycle and give my hair a chance to reset, I looked for an alternative, which eventually led to my dry shampoo: Drybar Detox Original Scent Dry Deodorant Shampoo (23 $; nordstrom.com).
Unfortunately, I did not come across this discovery right away. It can be difficult to find the best dry shampoo for your hair type, but after trying more inefficient options than I would like to admit, I realized that products containing rice starch were the most effective on my roots. Micro-fine rice powders quickly absorb the oil, becoming translucent to blend into your hair before dilating to give volume to your locks. A few minutes after applying Drybar Detox, my hair looks as clean as it is bulky.
A large number of high quality dried shampoos, followed by cults, also use rice starch, including Living Proof dry shampoo ($ 24, nordstrom.com) - one of my honorable mentions - and the Moroccan oil shampoo ($ 26, nordstrom.com). However, Drybar is distinguished by the addition of moisturizing extract of the golden root, which reduces the risk of breakage by preventing the drying of locks.
I prefer to apply my dry shampoo the night before, which allows starchy foods to fully absorb the oils during the night. Since the product is free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates, I feel safe sleeping with him in the hair during the night - and the divine scent means I really appreciate it. It is a dream combination of jasmine, Madagascar vanilla, and sandalwood that persists in the hair for days.
If you're sensitive to perfume, Drybar Clear Detox ($ 23, nordstrom.com) is a more neutral alternative, but keep in mind that it's designed for smoother absorption of oil. In fact, I stick to this formula when I plan to take a shower later, but I just need a quick refresh for a few hours.
If I want to maximize my time between washings, the O.G. The Drybar formula is always my choice. I can spend three to four days before feeling the need to wash my hair after a single application. As I move away from my last wash, I'll add extra products to my hair for more body and life, like Drybar's 3-in-1 Dry Texturizer ($ 26, nordstrom.com) . So far, this combination has never let me down.
My favorite travel hack is to bring tiny versions of dry shampoo and dry bar texturizer. I can spend more time exploring and less time trying to wash and comb my hair (who wants to do it on vacation?), Especially if I decide to train. To get the most for my money, I am usually looking for deals such as this pack of four Drybar Miniatures ($ 39, $ 52; nordstrom.com) currently discounted for sale of Nordstrom Anniversary. These four travel size products take up very little space and save time by fixing my hair - what more can I ask for?
Of course, I'm not the only one obsessed. Drybar Detox dry shampoo has received over 100 5-star Nordstrom reviews from satisfied users, including a mom with young children who calls her "the favorite from below". In fact, she claims: I wash it and I only use it when my hair is freshly washed!
Although the price may seem high at $ 23 a bottle, a small product is enough (and remember that you can enjoy a discount by buying Drybar's four-pack of favorites for less than $ 40 as long as they are still on sale). You will also save money in the long term by reducing your regular consumption of shampoo and water, a win-win solution!
