Constitution Day 2020: Significance and core values of the Constitution
Constitution Day is observed to make people aware about the constitution that was written after two years of freedom from British rule, i.e., 1949, constitution day is also observed to pay tribute to the architect of constitution Dr BR Ambedkar.
Why is the constitution essential for us?
The constitution teaches us that no person should be discriminated against caste, race, poverty etc. and we should salute the architect of constitution Dr BR Ambedkar Rao and others who supported him in writing the constitution.
Core values of the Indian constitution
Justice: Social justice which is about being treated equally, economic justice which is about earning and paying taxes equally as others do and political justice which is about right to participate in the political process freely and responsibly.
Liberty: Liberty of thought is the freedom to think as you want to, liberty of expression is about expressing your thoughts freely, liberty of belief is the freedom to believing any culture and liberty of faith is about practising any religion you want, and liberty of worship is about worshipping any god or goddess.
Equality: Equality of status is all about social, economic and political equality for every Indian citizen and equality of opportunity is about everyone given the same chance.
Fraternity: Fraternity is a feeling of brotherhood and a sense of belonging with the country among its people.
We all should remember and follow what Dr BR Ambedkar said. "Democracy is not merely a form of government. It is primarily a mode of associated living, of conjoint communicated experience. It is essentially an attitude of respect and reverence towards fellow men".
