10 Indian Cities Among World's Most Hottest Places Right Now, Churu Sizzles At 50

There is coronavirus on one side and there is this heatwave on the other. Looks like humankind is battling the worst crisis yet. As if the growing number of COVID cases was not enough, there is disturbing news for India from another quarter.

According to data released by El Dorado, a weather monitoring website, 10 Indian cities are among the 15 hottest cities in the world right now. Churu in Rajasthan which is close to the Thar desert, recorded the highest temperature with mercury levels touching 50 degrees Celsius yesterday. This is the second highest temperature in over a decade in Churu. The Rajasthan region had sizzles at 50.2 in May 2016. Churu is in the grip of severe heatwave ever since temperatures touched 46.6 on May 22. Two other places in Rajasthan Jaisalmer and Kota too sizzles at 46 degrees Celsius.

Jacobabad in neighbouring Pakistan came second in terms of record heat. Ganganagar, Pilani and Bikaner are the other three cities in Rajasthan in the world's hottest lost. Temperature touched 48 degree Celsius in Hisar, Haryana and Banda in Uttar Pradesh.

On the world's hottest list are also two cities in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

New Delhi: 47.6 degree Celsius

Bikaner: 47.4 degree Celsius

Ganganagar: 47 degree Celsius

Jhansi: 47 degree Celsius

Pilani: 46.9 degree Celsius

Nagpur Sonegaon: 46.8 degree Celsius

Akola: 46.5 degree Celsius

Meanwhile, the MET department forecast suggests that the heatwave will continue in several parts of India.
