1. Ditch single-use plastics

Single use plastics are made with low-grade plastics that have the potential to leach into our food. Out of all the pollutants found on the ocean beds, single-use plastics are the highest in number. Request the staff to avoid single-use cutlery, straws and to-go cups when dining in restaurants or cafes.

2. Opt for home - cooked meals as often as possible

Online orders may be super fast, cheap and delicious, but most of the times, the food we order comes in unrecyclable plastic. Even the biodegradable plastics need favourable conditions to disintegrate safely. As often as possible, choose to go plastic-free, and opt for home-cooked and packed meals you can carry with you.

3. Recycle gadgets efficiently

Did you know that buying second hand gadgets is an amazing way to protect the environment? It creates a circular economy that focuses on reusing the products already manufactured, as opposed to a linear economy whose life cycle is production - usage - wastage. It is also a good idea to sell off any old gadgets we don't use anymore.

4. Carry a reusable bag at all times

Plastic is extremely convenient to use, so why not be accountable for the plastic that we already have? While trying not to add on the plastic hoard, reuse the good-quality bags you already own and treat them like multi-use bags instead of use-and-throw. The idea is to use the products as many times as possible, before they are dumped into our oceans and landfills.

5. Replace your day-to-day plastics

Did you know that plastic toothbrushes are one of THE most found items in the ocean? There is no way they can be recycled. So why not switch to efficient and biodegradable products? There are multiple online stores that sell alternatives to everyday plastic items like soap cases, toothbrushes, straws, cutlery, razors and many more. The products serve the same purpose, plus you would be guilt free!
