How to deal with coronavirus (COVID-19)

Since Monday, new cases of identified coronavirus infection in Delhi, Hyderabad and Jaipur have led to a series of government and school authorities precautionary measures, and panic, especially among residents of the National Capital Region. Much of the panic was spread via WhatsApp through alarmist messages.

What are safe or unsafe acts, and what are appropriate or excessive measures? This is all you need to know:

Which sort of coronavirus test is done? Do private laboratories have the equipment?

The first examination for which samples are sent from all suspicious patients is the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) examination. If that is correct, the sample will be sent for final confirmation to the Pune National Institute of Virology, which is the only government laboratory currently doing genome sequencing. The ultimate confirmatory test unique to the novel coronavirus was established virtually overnight after the disease arose.

And There are several viral testing and diagnostic laboratories such as those at AIIMS, Delhi, King George's Lucknow Medical University, Jaipur's Sawai Man Singh Hospital, Kolkata's National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, and Nagpur's Indira Gandhi Government Medical College where the PCR test can be performed. Several private laboratories are able to do the tests, but it is considered better to go to approved government centers because of the risk of spreading the infection and the likelihood of delays in diagnosis / isolation.

Is it okay to send kids to birthday parties and other such gatherings? Or using public transport ?

It is only advised to avoid throwing or attending a party if someone among the party's guests or hosts has a past of exposure to an infected person, or a travel history to a country where cases have been reported. The same goes for public transport passengers.

There is no ban on meetings or public transport at the moment if there is no such history. At the same time, maintaining the simple coughing and sneezing etiquette, and constantly washing or sanitizing hands, is of paramount importance.

Will hand sanitizers work?

They are, if they are focused on alcohol and the alcohol content reaches 60%. Whenever practicable, the US Centers for Disease Control recommends washing hands with soap and water as handwashing decreases the amounts on hands of all forms of germs and chemicals.

But if there is no soap and water, using a hand sanitizer with at least 60 per cent alcohol will help you avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. "However, hand washing remains the first and safest step, ideally with warm water.

Is sexual intercourse safe?

Yes it is, but it could be easier not to kiss again. Therefore, whatever the operation, hand-washing still remains the cardinal safety measure.

Is hand shaking safe?

The virus, particularly if the infected person has coughed or sneezed into his own hands, may spread itself via hand contact. As the number of people exposed to the virus rises, and given the 14-day incubation period during which a person may remain asymptomatic but spread the disease, a hands-off greeting, such as a namaskar, may be safer to use.

Will Masks Have Coronavirus?

Masks are successful in preventing infectious spread. A mask should be used by anyone with a history of travel to affected areas or interaction with infected individuals and symptoms of the disease. Using masks is also important to the medical personnel. It is not necessary for the general population to use masks at the present moment.

Masks do actually come with their own hazards. Wearing a mask can, unintentionally, complicate the situation for a person with an existing medical condition. Several experts have noted that people may wear a mask inappropriately, and they may increase the risk of infection by more regularly touching their face.

How is the National government preparing to overcome coronavirus?

The government has not been threatened to date by the discovery of any local transmission event. But, if and when this happens, and the method of touch tracing becomes more and more difficult as the net widenes, the health systems will be heavily checked. Travel restrictions and visas withheld from affected countries have already been imposed by the Government.

There has been shared a comprehensive containment strategy with states. States were asked to identify potential areas of insulation in hospitals that could handle larger numbers. We were asked to expand current isolation wards and include in their authority Labor Department hospitals, armed forces, paramilitary forces, medical colleges, and PSUs.

Do you need to stop eating out?

Perhaps not. If you had to start avoiding public places, it would also have spread to schools and workplaces. That condition has not yet sprung up. It can also create unnecessary fear by avoiding public places, or by telling others to do so. In actual fact, even for the Noida school where the Delhi patient research kids are studying, National Center for Disease Control officials say it's okay for kids to return to school once fumigation is finished and the school reopen next week.

There is a need to keep patients ' privacy concerns in mind, without compromising on required, checked information— for example, the students ' identity was not revealed by the Noida schools but they shared the fact that one parent tested positive. Refraining from spreading random social media messages is crucial, especially from perpetuating doomsday messaging.

How did the Delhi cases skip the airport check-up?

Screening of Italian passengers commenced on 26 February. The cases identified by now had reached the previous day. For large numbers coming in from around the world, airports are always a hotspot, considering that the footprint of the virus has risen from 66 to 75 countries in the last 24 hours.
